1. Rain Barrel Workshop

WHEN: Tuesday, September 17th at 4:30 & 5:30 PM

WHERE: Lucas Co. Fairgrounds (1406 Key St., Maumee OH 43537) inside the Green Barn

COST: $40 per barrel

Rain barrels are an easy and efficient way to manage stormwater, while also saving money and resources! The rain barrels that will be made are from 55-gallon capacity recycled food-grade barrels and are intended to be installed underneath a downspout from a roof.

All hardware and tools are provided as well as information on installation and maintenance of your rain barrel. The barrel measures approximately 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall. It is expected that the barrels are taken home the day of the workshop.

Proper safety protocol when using power tools will be implemented during the workshop. Participants must be 18 years or older.​

2. Living More Sustainably Workshop

WHEN: Monday, September 23rd, 5PM

WHERE: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Maumee

COST: FREE

What can we do to protect our planet and live more sustainably? What actions will have the most impact on climate change? Join Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful for a discussion about practical, everyday things we can all do to help protect people and the planet.

3. Vermicomposting Workshop

Join us for a Vermicomposting 101 Class! Have you ever wanted to start composting but weren’t exactly sure how to get started? Let us help you!

Participants will receive helpful information on how to compost indoors or outdoors using worms! You will make your own compost bin complete with a plentiful starter pack of worms.

Cost includes: 2 storage totes, worms, and light refreshments. Power tools will be used so participants must be 18 years or older.

Adult Sunday Class

Join us on Sunday mornings from 9:00-9:50 in the Skylight Room as we discuss the wonderful bookb by Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.

We will discuss the sections of the book according to the following schedule, but please come even if you haven’t read the book. Our discussion is lively and interesting thanks to the unique perspectives of the participants; the book just gives us a focal point to keep learning and growing together. Summaries will be provided.
