Friends,
We have great news! We will open for in-person worship on March 21, the Fifth Sunday of Lent. The next two Sundays will continue with livestreaming the Eucharist. We will, of course, continue the livestream permanently. All diocesan guidelines for COVID-19 are in place. Please see the bishop’s message below. This includes wearing masks, prohibition on singing, physical distancing, etc. Services on Sundays will be at 8AM and 10AM with registrations required. Beginning March 24, we will also hold Eucharist on Wednesdays at noon without registration.
Please see below for the Holy Week Schedule. We ordered Palm leaves and Easter Lillies in preparation for coming together. I will offer a daily morning meditation on Zoom. The stripping of the Altar will be virtual on Maundy Thursday. Good Friday services will be in-person and virtual. Jane Weber is preparing a virtual Organ Recital for Holy Saturday. The West Mission Area is also preparing a full length Virtual Easter Vigil. (Jennifer Vasquez is coordinating and I am the video editor).
Please keep our friends in Beattyville KY in your prayers. Leeroy Brandenburg is our Youth mission trip host in Beattyville. He tells me the flooding was devastating. Ken Robinson is leading the Red Cross response to the disaster. Our kids have worked on the mobile homes in the photo. We have shopped in the stores, particulaly the IGA.
Leeroy has not experienced personal loss because his property is higher on the mountain. He has friends who have lost everything. I am motivated to take our kids on a mission trip to Beattyville to help. Currently, we cannot go due to COVID-19 restrictions. We scheduled a tentative mission trip for June 13, but this is entirely dependent on mask and social distancing rules. I cannot make promises this trip will occur. It all depends on COVID.
Stay safe and healthy.
Peace, Paul
